Update: SA Adventures

So, since Cam and I have been here in San Antonio, we've had quite a few adventures, some of which I have effectively captured on my camera. :) So here's the rundown: Welcome to the Dental Profession, First At-home Haircut, Irrigation station while Camping, First Time making Home-made Bread, Vball tryouts, 1-Day, Mini-golfing, and New Additions. :)

So, first things first, our first Sunday here, we had to miss our ward to go to Cameron's Welcome to the Profession Ceremony.. It was pretty cool, but my camera had a hard time because it was so dark in the auditorium and they weren't standing still. But I talked Cam into getting back up on the stage and posing so I could get a good pict.

As time passed, Cameron's hair grew and grew and grew... and instead of risking another crazy cut like the last-minute scary one that he got from a lady in Austin... He got a crazy, scary one from me! :) But we both survived and he even got a couple compliments on it at school (just that one spot in the back was a little tricky... but you can't even see it)

...see that's a huge hair pile....

We couldn't go the rest of the summer without any camping trips so we went camping at the end of July with the Dan and Katie Tengelsen... holy smokes... it was sooooo hot. I think it got down to 50-60 degrees at the coldest part of the night... Anyway, so to fight the heat we went down to the Pedernales 'River'... But it was almost dried up... so we channeled water to a spot where we built up a little dam and made a cool tub! :) It was almost like being home on the farm.

So, one day after Cameron had asked me yet again if I was going to ever use the awesome mixer, that my Mom gave us for our wedding, to make some good ol' home-made bread... I decided to just do it so I could say that I had. Well it all started out good until I, like any good amateur cook forgot to look at all of the ingredients and make sure that I had enough of them, ran out of white flour....

The good news is that I did have wheat flour and barely enough of that... so I continued on with the endeavor. They raised quite well... but when they came out of the oven smelling wonderfully, they were like half-loaves because the wheat flour was sooo heavy...

But they cooked all the way through and were still yummy! (See you can tell by the look on my face... ;)

So, being in San Antonio rather than Austin or Utah means that I don't have an automatic connection to any sort of volleyball... so I decided to try to find a team on my own. On the UTSA, University of Texas at San Antonio where I'm going to school, rec site, I found out that they have a volleyball team and they were having tryouts. So I of course showed up! :)

Yes, it was awesome to play ball again. The only kicker was that they only have practice the days and hours that I have classes... so I couldn't really play. But I got a major arm/wrist/leg workout from the two hours I was able to play... Maybe next semester I'll do a little more fiddling with my schedule... ;)

So this is kind of sad, but on our anniversary, despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to decorate Cameron's school locker at all.... I couldn't find the right one... I had the locker combination and everything... So I devised a plan... On our 1 Day... (1 year, 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day anniversary) I set up a poster with streamers and balloons etc. :) It was awesome! And Cameron was super surprised... He had no idea...

So on the rare Saturday that Cameron didn't have to study the WHOLE day... (just the first 2/3rds) we decided to go mini-golfing... Lucky for our amusement (we were following a big group) I brought my camera. :)

(We took almost 10 of these pictures trying to get the head tilt + eye openness + picture centering + smiles just right...)

That one... not even planned... But I definitely suggest carrying the camera when mini-golfing... The results will not disappoint. :)

Last but not least for now is our newest additions... (No I'm not pregnant with twins or anything else like that...) They are couch cushions (still working on a nice cover), blinds on the windows, the rest of the extra bathroom necessities, and cutest of all... a Bonsai tree! :)

Bueno asi nos va la vida (That's how life's going for us!) I, hopefully, will keep more up-to-date so as to avoid overly-long posts! :)
