Valentines Day 2014!

Since we have been watching the Cake Boss and Cameron was feeling inspired by it all, we decided to try our hand at making a Cake Boss worthy cake as our Valentines Day activity! We started with a trip to HEB to gather all the ingredients. We baked 4 red velvet round cakes and from there, Cameron cut the tops off and shaped them into heart shapes!

We mixed up a chocolate truffle filling and buttercream frosting to keep all of the good stuff inside. Put raspberries on the chocolate truffle and then stacked the layers up! (So we were going to do the 4 layers, but that was turning huge, so I talked Cam down to 3 layers.)

Then came the dirty icing (with buttercream) and then the layer of marshmallow fondant!

Cameron did most of the detail work making the ribbon and bow as well as the roses on the side with his homemade 'rose nail' (the bottom of a plastic cup with a nail through it!)...

He finished it up with piping to decorate the outside and then a little sideways Cam and Charee' to finish it off! I got to put Cam's hair on him!

So here's the final product! You can judge for yourselves if it is Cake Boss worthy.

Even if it wasn't totally up to the Cake Boss' standard, it was an awesome activity and a great way to have a fun time for Valentines day!

P.S. Our other activity was to make heart pizzas (Cameron's family tradition)... and since Jared, Cam's older bro, was here for the TMEA conference, he got to shape the pizza dough and help with that! Did a good job huh!
